So this is Christmas

So here it is, another Christmas Eve has arrived.

Tomorrow brings the day the gifts are exchanged, and hopefully appreciated, followed by Boxing Day when people flock to the malls in search of deals on things they didn’t get and things they feel they need because the deals are so good.

But is this Christmas?

Every year I hear the same old question what do you want for Christmas?

To be honest what I, what we ALL really want cannot be bought and put under a tree.

I figure if you are lucky enough to live in a country where you are free to express your thoughts, vote for a change in government, have a roof over your head, clothes on your back, food in the fridge, good health and family and friends who love and care for you then what gift matters more than any of that?

Perhaps if we truly want a gift that is meaningful and thoughtful, perhaps it should be this.

An end to hunger, an end to discrimination, an end to hating others because they are different, an end to where a living wage is a pipe dream, and end to wasteful use and abuse of our only habitable planets resource.

A willingness to be happy with what we have, and not what we didn’t get.

A willingness to truly believe when we say ‘Peace on earth and good will to all’

Just imagine what our world would be like?
