July 23rd 2016 is the day I will (hopeful) ride 180km as part of the 5th edition of the Ottawa GranFondo. Not only will I be riding I will have raised funds for the Ontario Lung Association and looking to hit my goal of $1,000.
Why would anyone choose to train and ride for an event like this? Fortunately I had the opportunity to explain why on CTV Ottawa’s New at Noon.
Lung Disease affects thousands upon thousands of people of all ages from all walks of life, and something made it’s way into my life by taking four of my family members. It covers covers a wide ranging list of diseases from something like asthma, which I suffer from to interstitial pneumonitis which is what took my mother’s life quickly, and is the motivating factor into it is for her that I ride.
The simple act of drawing a breathe is not so simple for those who live with and for family and friends of those who suffer from Lung Disease.
